Literature Text

You looked around the area to get a feel of things. The building in front of you was large and appeared as grand as could be. Noise of the city echoed towards two sets of ears; people walking, horses trotting and neighing, and coming from inside was the sound of music.

“Must be a party of some type,” Rose whispered as a suggestion.

However, you shook your head in disagreement and stepped forward, “Why not just take a look inside?”

Rose thought for a moment but soon agreed. By the time she looked up, you had already found a door and was pushing through. Quickly, Rose went after you into the large building after locking the TARDIS. When she stepped inside, she blinked.

Costumes and props of all shapes, sizes and colors were around. There were men and women, all doing something; leading animals, singing, dancing, and building. Many were walking above Rose’s head but she ripped herself from the view to look for you, who had disappeared from her range of sight. She turned herself around in a circle, trying to get a glimpse of the one person that could find the Doctor. Before she could take a step forward, someone bumped into her and made her stumble.

“Sorry,” the figure mumbled in a soft voice, “You really must be more aware of your surroundings.”

The blonde looked up to study the person but couldn’t see much. The stranger was covered with a black cloak and they held it closed.

“Of course,” Rose brushed herself gently but didn’t take her eyes off the stranger, “But, can you tell me the name of this building?”

The shadowy figure laughed; a sound so similar to a finely tuned bell, “It’s the Opéra Populaire.”

Rose looked down, “I see… that sounds familiar.”

When she looked back up to thank the person, they were nowhere in sight; then again, all she could see was people. A sigh left her as she walked forward through the opera house, looking for you.  You had simply seemed to have vanished into the crowd. This was not going to be easy.

~*~*~

You walked with purpose through the people and turned to confront Rose about something, but was immediately met with anyone but the familiar face of Rose. You let out an agitated sigh and tapped your foot impatiently. You had been positive Rose had been right behind you this whole time. You had been walking for a good twenty minutes now without the only person who knew exactly who you were looking for; or rather what he looked like currently.

“I hope he has been well since the last time,” you said absently before quickly shaking your head, “What…? What last time…? (Name), you’re losing it.”

There was definitely a presence you recognized nearby. Clearly, it had to be Rose since there was no one else you knew here, but something was off about the feeling. You walked forward, following the urge of the presence through the crowd until you reached a dead end. There, stood a figure in a dark cloak with the hood flipped up and hiding their features beneath it. You stopped short and shook yout head quickly.

“Who,” you let out slowly, “Are you?”

The person flipped down the hood and smiled, “Hello (Name).”

You blinked and kept silent. The woman standing before you was very familiar; she looked like an older version of yourself.

“I know you think I look like you,” the woman continued, “I thought the very same thing when I was in your position. I need you to change the future that I’m from into something much different. Do not; I repeat; do not change the events that happen here in the next few days. I stopped the tragedy that happened to this opera house when I first came but it needs to happen. The man known as the Phantom beneath the building must do what was originally intended. Otherwise, you will never find the Doctor. He is supposed to return here to save you and Rose. Please, let the timeline continue as it should have.”

You nodded gently, “So, you’re me from a future that changed it?”

“I guess you could say I’m you,” she gently ran a hand through her hair and checked her watch, “But I prefer to be called (Time Lady Name). Well, I know you listened to my advice, because I’m starting to forget everything. There’s something you need to know.”

(TL Name) stepped closer to you and took your right hand, “I can’t tell you everything… But here are more pieces to the puzzle of our mind.”

(TL Name) pressed her forehead against yours and flashes of information bolted through you mind before the alternate woman slowly disappeared. You blinked again and began to tear up.

“I am (TL Name).”
Well... this one was written a lot faster than my last few chapters... I did try my best to make it good...

Paris, France in 1870, why would the TARDIS land behind an opera house? Could the Doctor really be there somewhere? The only way to find out is to look.
